Surf Club's Local Cutie
It was a whirlwind weekend... but a very special weekend... Monday not only was Memorial Day, but also was Brayden's 2nd Birthday. Holly and David had a fun little gathering that afternoon with just the grandparents... Don and Darlene and Jerry and I.... a very special time for all of us!
Little Mr Birthday Boy was adorable. Dressed in his new threads as Surf Club's Local Cutie... the theme was Hawaiian, so Holly decorated up the house with some tropical fish posters and Hawaiian leis and flip flop twinkle lights while David BBQ'd some Teriyaki Chicken and pineapple.
Mom and Dad got him a Thomas the Train scooter.. which he LOVED.. and was perfect for riding all around the great room...
Out to the patio to blow some bubbles with Grandpa Jerry... while David grills the chicken.
After dinner some more time back to the scooter.. but this was sooo cute.. it was like he was feeling sorry for his old toys and went and got his Thomas riding toy to introduce him to his new Thomas scooter... wanted them to be together for some pictures...
Here's a flash back about two years ago... one of the first wood projects presented about in the exact same spot... remember this one??? Look how much Brayden's grown!!! xoxoxoxo
David even made Brayden's birthday cake.... and because Brayden loves turtles so much... he made a turtle cake!... I think he really looked like Crush from Finding Nemo.. who took Nemo (and Little Squirt) through the East Australian Current.. remember.. Totally Dude! Coo-Coo-Cachoo back to the big ol' Blue! Anyways, I digress...
I absolutely adore this picture... what is Brayden thinking? Is this Mr. Turtle from my fish pond or could it really be Crush and he's lost his way.... and can I really eat him???

And check out the new flip flops Brayden got too....

Wanna see some tricks?
Wait.. my flip flops keep sliding off...
OK now watch....
The thing is, nearly every time he rode by Grandma D she'd grab and kiss him...
Grandfather had some tricks of his own... called Kiss the Belly...
Oh and another favorite trick... eat the raspberries off Grandfather's fingers...
I think he's gonna trick me again...
Out to the patio to blow some bubbles with Grandpa Jerry... while David grills the chicken.
Puttin' the flip flops back on all by himself..
The scooter works great outside too!
Time for a sip of lemonade....
(wow mom these are fancy cups.. thanks!)
And now it's time for dinner!!!
Uncle Brian calls to sing Happy Birthday to Brayden over the phone..
Grandma listens in....
...and he's lovin' it!

Makes my heart swell for him ... I want him to keep his tender kind heart and think of others...
You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important!
OK time to open presents.....
look how cute and happy he is with a simple little pair of sunglasses!
Oh, and typical, he was thrilled just to get the tissue paper to play with....
everyone gets a hat....
Grandfather helps him open his new suitcase...
filled with goodies for their summer vacation together this July...
and he's practicing rolling those wheels through the airport....
Grandma D shows him how to open it ....
And it's already packed with gobs of goodies!!!
Books and Animal Crackers and puzzles and Bert & Ernie and crayons and all kinds of stuff!
He loved the little toy train of course...
Grandpa Jerry showing him how the magnets work...
Forget the Grey Poupon... got Ketchup??
Grandfather makes sure he does....
his own personal little bottle!
What's in the brown paper wrapping???
Woo hoo!!! It's his own 4-wheeler!
Wanna see some tricks (again)???
The nut doesn't fall far from the tree.
Grandpa Jerry's been busy at some more wood projects...

Time to say Aloha! We get some goodbye hugs from the Birthday Boy himself...
He even poses for one last "say cheese" picture!!!
Happy Birthday Brayden!
We love you little Dude!
