Carousing in Corona

This past weekend I attended a Stampin' Up Meeting for Demonstrators sponsored by my "boss" or Upline who came out from Utah to host the event. Kathy generally comes once or twice a year but it had been quite some time since she had been out... so it was great to have her back. She holds them at the Sizzler in Corona... just a mere 75 miles from Poway.

She probably has over 100 down lines, many in the Riverside area ... she's been with SU over 20 years and is pretty high up in the food chain... or should I say stamp chain! I'm actually in her 5th Level, which is pretty low... but because all the other Demonstrators between me and her are no longer active, she's stuck with me!

So when I received her invite I gathered a few of my own down lines... five to be exact, and invited them to join me.  PatK1 and PatK2 both came, as well as Lynette who are all my Level 1 down lines. Then Tina and Wanda joined who are in my Level 2. We had a blast together... that's for sure.

There were several Technique tables where we got to watch demonstrations of various things... my favorite was learning about the new Simply Pressed Clay flowers and buttons we can now make... Nina showed us how we can color the clay with refill ink... taught us how to kneed and work it.. gave us tips about storage and even let us make some of our own....

She had a display board showing examples using different methods..
some with Crystal Effects, others using markers or reinkers to color the clay
(sorry my pictures are so bad... many out of focus but you get the idea)

And then she had samples of items she made using the flowers...
here a wedding garter....

Necklace and earrings...

and my favorite.. this really cool art work bouquet
in distressed picture frame...

There was one gal teaching how to simply make boxes....
and great ideas on uses for them....

she gets her ideas and template from this website:

she even made this one using our Glitter card stock for her cell phone!

Another table I found Chris who was teaching how to make Flip Fold Cards...
I've made them before but was fun to see her examples and teaching method...

Here's some of her examples:

And instructions... double click on the photo and it enlarges
so you can read dimensions...

The very best thing I took away from her table was idea
on how to store all her Framelet Dies... she keeps them in a notebook
with Product Page on one side and dies on the other....
what a smart way to display and keep organized!

Lis hosted a table teaching white wash emboss painting..
super popular table... not sure if it was the technique
or just to watch and listen to Lis.
She is usually the one hosting meetings at the Sizzler
as she is Kathy's down line who lives in Riverside and
generally pulls most of the gals together....
they are both great friends as you can see from the photos...

She stamps the image with Staz On black ink or
White Embossing Ink (and of course embosses it)
The she uses the white embossing ink to color in the image...

after it's dry, she colors it with desired color
using her Aqua Painter...

Here's examples of the results...

She also taught us how to make the scrunchy little paper roses...
as shown on her cards she made to swap...
(of which she won Third Place ~also no surprise!!)

Here's an overview shot of the room with most of the
gals wandering around or chatting...

It was a great opportunity for me to meet some new Demonstrators...
I comnended ChrisAnn here that I just met... she came on crutches...
with her awesome husband who helped her out..
(would Jerry have done that if it was during the time I had my hands in casts??)
she was even in charge of the Make n'Take!
Now that convicted me...
I didn't even volunteer yet she found time and energy to do that too!

Here's the cute little gift bag she prepared and provided
for each of us to make one... I got a shot of
each of the tag samples:

and here's the Make n'Take table where we made this card
using the new Chalk Talk set...
plus we got our hands on the new metalic cutting plate
... wow what a cool tool!

I couldn't help but introduce myself to meet Melody.... and take her picture!
Loved her t-shirt... she got it at Convention last year!
I wonder what design they'll have this year... can't wait to get one!

Come back tomorrow and I'll show you all the cards
from the Contest... and our winning Mizz Wanda!!!!
