Poway Cruisers at the Fair!

The second day of "stay-cation" we went to the Del Mar Fair.... yes I still refer to it as the DEL MAR Fair....  it's just one of those things I prefer not to change.. and ya know, not one person has questioned me about it.. they know what I mean when I say Del Mar Fair.... hummm...

But I digress... The reason we specifically chose this day  was because Poway Cruises (Jerry's car club) were invited to show their classic cars again this year. He entered his '57 Chevy and  had a great time with his buddies. There were only 8 entries allowed from his club... so glad he made it in!

We got up early to caravan with the car club over to Del Mar before the gates opened .... so fun watching people's expressions along the freeway....  pulled right into the fairgrounds (no parking or entrance fee!) and they had the club park all the cars on the infield for display.

Jerry's best friend Walt showcased his '34 Chevy
and they were lucky enough to get placed next to each other....

The third of the "three amigos" is Chuck....
he has an incredible classic car....
always takes 1st place and rightly so!

Here's the gang of them... all voting for each other's car
to be sure one of them wins!

Here's a couple others from the club....

We had until 3pm to wander and do whatever and then had to return to pull the cars out. So after a few hours in Bing Crosby Hall watching Veggie Meggie Vita Mix demos, getting my hands waxed and re waxed, cleaning my wedding ring with magic jewelry cleaner, having my feet soaked in secret formula goop, testing new kitchen floor mops, taste testing milk chocolate, dark chocolate, rocky road chocolate, mixed nut chocolate, savory salty chocolate, mint chocolate, and peanut butter fudge chocolate.... we meandered over to the Home and Garden building for a bit more time of fantasy dreaming about new landscaping for the yard, patio covers for every season and remodeling the kitchen and baths....

After all that the only thing we took home was a car and race track for Brayden, and probably a few extra pounds from all that taste testing...

We met up with Holly and Brayden who came for the afternoon...  Jerry caravan back home with the Club but I stayed with them to meander around to see the Farm animals....  first thing we did was go to the Pig Races... what a hoot!

We found the 4H Clubs .....
these animal are GIANORMOUS!

Next we made it to the Petting Zoo building.....

We met "Buttercup" and "Dude" the adorable bunnies....

We even got to see a live "sheep shearing" demonstration...
now-a-days most kids watch things like this only on YouTube!

Next we headed to Bing Crosby Hall... again... so  Holly could wander around and see the vendors too.... Brayden especially liked the riding horse toys and little Wiggle Cars of course!

After that we headed to the carnival rides and games and tried to go on the Ferris Wheel but unfortunately Brayden didn't quite make it up to the "Tall Enough to Ride" line (42 inches)... so he was bummed but got him quickly distracted playing the Pop the Balloons with the Dart game.... he popped 3 out of 3 balloons.. wow I was impressed.. and he won a little stuffed Nemo-like fish... quite the proud catch!

Best ride we had was the open "double-decker" bus back to the parking lot!

It was a FAB-ulous time!
