Day at the Zoo!

Saturday was Holly's birthday and we celebrated by going to the Zoo! It was sooo much fun and I hadn't really thought about how long it had been since I was there last - so much new stuff I hadn't seen!  We kinda wondered if the weather was going to be rainy or not... and it was not... actually it was perfect!

So here's the birthday girl with her little monkey in front of the famous gorilla statue as you enter the Zoo...

The first thing Brayden wanted to see were the alligators...
so we headed to the reptile area....

wowie zowie... first thing we find are the
giant tortoise....

Then, not alligators, but crocodiles
you can tell by the pointy nose...

And this cool iguana... he's much larger than he looks in this photo...

Then some more turtles...

And we can't forget the flamingo's!
Brayden was mesmerized watching them stand on one leg!

Next, down the Monkey Trail...
can ya see him in the tree munching on his leaf lunch?

They were all over the place!

Here's a cute family with a cute little monkey....
see that face!!

Our beautiful birthday girl next to the beautiful waterfall...

Here's mr hungry hungry hippo!
except he was kinda lazy... didn't even move from his rock...

Grandpa kept telling Brayden to "watch.. he's gonna move"..
nope.. never did.

We headed over to the Polar Bear area...
and watch the giant giant polar bear swim back and forth in the pool....
but Brayden liked the little baby statue even better....

And the giant statue was so big couldn't even fit in the picture!

There was a great area for the kids to play in...
a pretend snow cave ... complete with otters..
see this cute one popping out of the opening???

Mama even got into the act crawling through the caves with Brayden!

Next Brayden got to sit in the polar express helicopter...
ready for take off!

Then we got back on the trail and headed up the hill
past the zebras.. wow.. think this was my favorite!!

No wait... maybe it was the elephant that was my favorite...

Actually here's my very favorite little guy...
isn't he priceless???

We made it around the entire outside paths of the Zoo...
that was about all we could handle for the day...
so decided to head out... and on our way out we came across
this beautiful peacock sitting on the wall...

Just before the exit, we walked through the coi ponds
and saw this amazing lily magnolia plant...

So we headed to Old Town to have some dinner together
but of course by the time we got there Brayden was out like a light..
couldn't even wake him once inside the restaurant..
so we made a make-shift bed for him with two chairs....

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner... complete with mariachi's
(see them in the background?.. even their music didn't wake Brayden!!!

Must be dreaming of lions and tigers and bears.. oh my!

Happy Birthday Holly!
It was a great day spent together!!
xoxoxoxo
