Where's My Poodle Skirt?????

Well Saturday night (after my busy SAS day), Jerry and I went with a few other couples from the  Poway Cruisers Club to the drive-in movies in Santee!!  Talk about nostalgic.. wowie zowie... I wish I still had my poodle skirt! (OK I never really had a poodle skirt but always wanted one!)

In all the years I've lived here, never had been to Santee Drive-In. It's one of the very few drive-in movie theaters still in operation....  Before we left while Jerry was loading up the trunk with our cooler and chairs, I got a few shots of my very favorite car in the Club sittin' in our driveway......'57 Chevy Belair 4-Door Hardtop

They had planned this outing months ago, so at the time wasn't sure what movie would be playing, but then it wasn't about the movie really, it was about the adventure... what's the saying....

Happiness is a Journey....
Not a Destination.

So we caravan-ed down and then you had to wait in line for the gates to open... everyone (not just our club) gets out of their car and stands around talking to others... was a great social way to meet other people!!  Of course the "old cars" got a lot of attention... Apparently the couple who organized the event go a couple times a month as they love it better than walk-in theaters...

Here's our few (five) cars waiting in line...
kinda cool the way it worked out...
we had a car from each decade:

1930s

 1940s

1950s

1960s

1970s

OK ... gates opened and they're finally letting us in.. cost is $8 per adult... not too bad at today's prices, especially when you consider you get to see two movies! (However we all remembered the days it was $3 per car... thus the reason some of us piled into the trunk just to get as many in the car as we could!!!)

Once we pulled in we all parked in a row together
and set up our chairs in front of car...
You'll notice they no longer have the poles at each spot with
speaker you use to hang on your car window...
now everyone tunes their FM radios into particular station....

It was like camping in a parking lot...
or reminded me of Movies in the Park...

Oh I never mentioned what we got to see...
Here's the marquee I finally got a quick shot of it on the way out
(just before Midnight!)

Yes, the boys would have been proud of us....
Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo
returned... as the Teen Age Mutant Turtles....
what can I say.. it was entertaining at least....
however our second movie was a bomb...
we left before it was over....
Guardians of the Galaxy
way too much Marvel comics for us!
