Inspired to Create

I've seen several gals who are involved in various "card challenges" where they are given an inspiration photo or idea and then are to create a card from that inspiration...

Here's a few examples from Lynn Put.. love how she puts it all together (no pun intended). FYI Lynn is not a SU Demonstrator so many of her cards and ideas are not made with SU products...

Birthday Cake Card

I should Google some history on "birthdays" and see who the brilliant person was who started this fabulous "tradition"... I know in some cultures it's not as prevalent as it is here in the U.S.... I sure hope it really wasn't Ms. Hallmark... and rather think it was some some loving parents who wanted to show the gratitude they had each year for the gift they had been given...

This birthday cake card was made by taking strips of DSP.

Just make a double score on the ends to create a "box" and nestle the "boxes" into each other to create the tiers. Colors used were Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Sahara Sand.

Here's a better view of the sides...

The Paper Stamper Kathy Schweinfurth came up with this idea!

Tri Shutter Anniversary Album

Wow.. here's a cute idea when making one of the Tri Shutter Album Cards.. this one made for a special Anniversary... isn't that fantastic??? I mean both the 70 years of marriage.. and the Album....

Jenny Moors in the UK made this one.. she went with Marina Mist, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla for her color combination. Not much stamping, instead she used lots of the Bigshot dies and embossing folder.

She used the Timeless Alphabet to do the numbers and
glued them to a Bevelled windowpane.

Here's what the inside looks like.
She used the embosslit hearts on the outer pages and the paper is Marina Mist.

This is a close up of the hearts and the filigree brad.
The vanilla layers are embossed with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder.

When you open the Album further you can see the back section...
where she will place a photo.

Here's the date the couple got married... in 1941!!!

Congratulations Len and Vera... wherever you are!

Self Portrait Photos

OK so I know you guys have all tried taking that perfect "self-portrait" .... either with your camera or phone so you can post on Facebook or your blogs... or just to have for special memories....

Well this weekend Claire and I went shopping (perfect way to celebrate birthdays right?) and we were trying on clothes at the Mall .... of course we both liked the same blouse... and were having so much fun we wanted to capture it with our "self-portrait".... and it only took a half dozen or so shots to get the perfect picture frame... ya know what I mean???

So here we are... in the dressing room (it's ok, not x-rated).... we couldn't stop laughing... the first few we didn't even get the blouse in the photo.... cheeze....turn the camera the other way you silly goose...

It only took us 8 tries ... and yes, we both ended up getting the same blouse.... you'll see us together one day wearing them.... just don't ya dare say to me... oh are you her mother????

Stampin' Up! Headquarters

While I'm at it.. thought I'd share some photos of Stampin' Up! Headquarters in Salt Lake... again these are from some of the Demonstrators who attended Convention this year... Everyone gets an opportunity to go over to the SU Headquarters and take a Tour... Judee and I did that when we attended Convention a few years ago... it's incredible.. who wouldn't love to go to work here each day.... we just asked where the applications were to apply for a position!

And, here's the "Ideas Room", what a fun place to get to play and actually get paid to do so! Check out those comfy bean bag chairs! The glassed-in-room straight ahead is a conference room where the walls are all "white boards" where you can write messages on.

Stampin' Up Convention

Stampin' Up! just held their annual Convention in Salt Lake City earlier this month. There's been lots of talk and sharing of ideas from all the Demonstrators who attended. I didn't attend this year... So thought I'd show you a few pictures some of the other gals have shared... they have some incredible displays of cards and project ideas... Guess I just need to make a decision and get to Convention one of these times... maybe next year!

Reflecting

July 25th will always hold a special place in my heart... it was my Dad's birthday... he enjoyed 82 wonderful years of life.. I should be so lucky.... in fact we all should. Come to think of it, he lived twice as long as my mom, she was 41 when she died... and when I think of him, I think of her; when I think of her, I think of him. He never remarried but instead dedicated himself to his family and raising us kids... he left us an amazing legacy to follow in his steps... I know my sons are a reflection of his life, keeping him alive in so many ways.

I love you dad and miss you still.
I'll always be daddy's little girl.

Happy Birthday Claire!

What a very special day it is...  Claire's birthday... and what a gift she is to me!

I can remember the day she was born... the joy and excitement we had a new little baby sister in our family... she captured our hearts from the get go. More than a sister, she is my friend... More than a friend, she is my sister.... and I am so grateful God determined the exact time and place that we should live... I can't imagine life without her.

Happy Birthday my dear Sister... have a blast celebrating life...
I can't wait to see what God has planned for you this year.. enjoy the adventure!

S.H.M.I.L.Y.

I love you from the bottom of my butt
(it's bigger than my heart!)
