Winter Wonderland!

We're in southern California.... average temperature is about 70 degrees... that's between winter and summer temps... so who would complain? No one... especially when we hear about the snow storms and winter weather in the mid-West and on the East Coast. I must say though that the past three or four days here we've had an incredible amount of rain and wind and storms.... Poway got six inches last night alone... I heard Palomar Mountain had a down pour of 11 inches that same night!!! Wow....

But still nothing compares to the beautiful Winter Wonderland scenes we're accustomed to seeing in traditional Christmas cards.... Snowmen and Snowflakes are pretty rare in our neck of the woods....  so I love the cards we can create with such scenes!

Not only cards, but paper cakes.... take a look at what Connie at Inkspired Treasures created... it's a topsy turvy Winter Wonderland cake... Isn't it incredible?

They even came up with some matching Snowflake cards... using the BIG Snowflake #2 die and the Northern Frost Strip die for the small one under the Blue Glimmer Brad. The Snowflake Punch was used and placed behind the bow! Lots of snowflakes going on!

The base is Marina Mist cardstock,  layered on Whisper White which was run thru the Big Shot with the Final Press Impressions Folder. Make the Snowflake #2 out of Marina Mist, then add Adhesive Glue on the edges and sprinkle on White Chunky Glitter. Add the Whisper White punched snowflake over the big one, make a bow out of the length of Marina Mist Satin Ribbon, then use the Subtles Glimmer Brad and the smallest snowflake in the center to hold the bow tied. Put the bow with a Stampin' Dimensional in the center of the snowflakes.

Finally stamp Winter Wonderland from Stampin' Up!'s Bright Christmas in Marina Mist Classic Ink, then free-hand cut it along the curve. It is attached to the front with Stampin' Dimensionals, too.

Here's a couple more ideas.... great cards for sending Winter Wishes to your family and friends.

Burrr... makes me wanna go and fix some hot chocolate!
